Research holds an important role in modern societies. It can support the enhancement of understanding, within a community, about a topic of interest and the development of relevant theoretical or technological innovations. For instance, within science education, research can help us improve our understanding, as a community, about how various factors relate to teaching/learning in science and how they can support (or impede) the learning process.
This, in turn, could provide theoretical frameworks that could support the development of powerful learning environments and inform interpretations for learning phenomena taking place within those environments. Another example relates to the development of structures and mechanisms that could support the wider dissemination of teaching innovations and effective teaching practices and facilitate their uptake on larger scales.
This and the following newsletter provide information about various EU-funded research projects related to science teaching/learning. In each case we provide a brief overview of the project and its objective(s). Our intent is to convey a broad sense about the wide range in terms of the focus of the various projects.
