Deadline for first round: 15th May 2013

PRI-SCI-NET is inviting primary school teachers to submit their application for the Recognition for Excellence in IBSE Certificate. This Certificate aims to recognise good practice in science by primary teachers across Europe. The best 20 applications chosen will be supported financially to attend the Pri-Sci-Net international conference in Cyprus in September.

The Pri-Sci-Net project is organising its first International Training Course in Usti-Nad Labem, the Czech Republic from the 28th of January to the 1st of February 2013. Pri-Sci-Net is an FP7 funded project within Science in Society which promotes inquiry-based learning in science education (IBSE) at primary level. Pri-Sci-Net brings together a group of science educators from all over Europe specialising in primary science education to develop together 45 inquiry-based activities for children between the ages of 3 and 11 years. To make these activities accessible to teachers, they will be available in 15 different languages and teachers can download them for free.

The project Pri-Sci-Net was presented to thePresident of Malta, Hon. Dr. George Abela during an official visit to The Malta Council for Science and Technology. The President was greeted by local researchers and staff and given a tour of the various science related projects and funding administered by the Council. Pri-Sci-Net was one of the chosen representative projects of the current 118 FP Funded project in Malta. MCST actively participates in 36 of these projects.

Networking Primary Science Educators as a means to provide training and professional development in Inquiry Based Teaching 

Following the first project meeting in Malta in October 2011, the Pri-Sci-Net second project meeting was held in Tielt Belgium on 30-31st May 2012. The meeting was organised by KATHO, the partners from Belgium and work package leaders of WP2 – Development of IBSE activities. All the  partners attended the meeting.

Pri-Sci-Net intends to create and offer a number of training opportunities for primary teachers and teacher trainers across Europe with the aim of promoting Inquiry-based learning in Science with young children. The following are a number of upcoming Pri-Sci-Net initiatives for the academic year 2012-13 and for which there is some funding to also support the participation of teachers.
