and Cognitive Ergonomics.
It is a Joint Research Unit between the “Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes” (EPHE) and Paris 8 University. EPHE and Paris 8 University are gathering nearly 500 researchers and 27,000 students including 4500 PhD Students. CHArt (70 researchers including 39 PhD students) aims to: (i) to observe, to experiment, to formalize, to model and simulate decision-making processes, learning and behavior, (2) to study pragmatic and semantic dimensions of interactions of Human and Artificial Cognitive Systems. Main research areas include “modeling action” (early learning, procedural learning, sensory-motor coordination and action-perception coupling through categorization, conception of a general model of situated and contextualized agents); conceptualization (numbers, categories) and; picture and text understanding (literal and metaphorical). CHArt is also responsible of LUTIN “Laboratoire des Usages des Techniques d’Information Numériques” (LUTIN), a Living Lab located at the City of Science and of Industry in Paris. LUTIN is a platform for usability observations and experimentations that provides access to technologies for observation and experimentation, cognitive simulation, interface between disciplines.
The Pri-Sci-Net Team
Dr. Charles Tijus is Director of CHArt. In his work, he continues to develop a contextual categorization based approach in order to study the cognitive processes of understanding: Thinking, Reasoning, Decision-making and Learning.
Dr. Elisabetta Zibetti is Tenured Assistant Professor (Maître de Conférence) and Chair of Cognitive Psychology at the University of Paris 8. She is currently focused on behavioral research concerning heuristics in spatial problem solving and user-oriented approach to design innovative educational technologies aimed at enhancing cognitive competences acquisition in schools.
Ms. Ilaria Gaudiello is PhD student at Chart-Lutin Laboratory. Her research interest is the development of protocols to integrate Educational Robotics at school.
